Repair Shop Service

Many people want to know how to get the best service at an auto repair shop. The best advice is to know a little bit about the problem before you take it to the shop. It all comes down to a more accurate description of the problem you give them makes it easier on the technician, and your bank account. It is pretty straightforward when put like that, but try taking your car to the shop and just saying something like "fix it", and then see what they charge you. After you have thrown several hundred dollars at the problem just to still have it, you will go in there and say, "I have a P0303 code, and I checked the spark plug and injector pulse on the cylinder". The technician will know you have looked into a few things already, so you must know something about the problem, and they will be less likely to stick you with a enormous repair bill. This is because you already did some of the hunting for them. You never know, when looking for the problem, you might just find something has come unplugged (which happens more often than you would think).
When you take it to the shop and talk to a technician, you will have to describe the sounds, smells, performance issues, or any other details. Even if you do not think it is something important, it is. If you cannot provide an accurate description of the problem to your technician, then they will have to find out for themselves, and you will be charged for that. Another thing to keep in mind, is you are the one who knows your car. You cannot expect a technician to know all the little normal quirks of your car, because if they notice them, it just means more money for them, and less for you. The diagnostic fee is usually about ninety dollars at most reputable repair facilities. So you can see right there how important a detailed accurate description of your problem is. It will get your car fixed faster, and since they charge by the hour, it will also be cheaper.
For something like a check engine light, there are usually things you can do, before having to involve a shop. This includes getting the codes, finding the meaning of the codes, and inspecting possible causes. All of this can be explained to you, specific to your situation and vehicle. That is actually what I do for a living, online.
If you do not have a clue, or think you are getting ripped off and just want to get an idea of what the problem is before you bring it in, I can help you there, too. I am an auto repair expert, and have been for several years. What we do is help people, like yourself, figure out what is wrong with their vehicles and guide them all the way through a fix, if possible. Quite often, it is not necessary to involve a shop. So, you can imagine we have many happy customers. Our is very affordable when you consider what a shop would charge you. You can talk to me personally if you want to, just put my name in the question, and they will make sure I get it.
Thanks for reading, and if you need specific help with any repairs or problems on your vehicle, just come talk to me.
